Hi, I'm Rhian Green or ‘mami‘ to my three children Gruffydd, Dafydd and Bethan. When my oldest son was born 5 years ago there were three things that I was sure about:

  • I was going to breastfeed, or at least try my best!
  • I was going to use environmentally friendly nappies.
  • I was going to eat more organic and locally produced food.

These three things were important to me, as well as raising them bilingually of course!

Friends and family loved the fun and funky nappies that I used with Gruffydd and I became a source of nappy advice to others. Since then word has spread and so really, mamigreen found itself! I now work part time as a paediatric nurse and provide cloth nappy advice and information around the needs of my family. Bethan is now my chief nappy tester who is generally happy and cosy in her fun and fashionable cloth nappies.

Green Family

As a mum and a paediatric nurse, I believe that the material in direct contact with a baby's sensitive skin is central to his or her comfort. For the first few years of your baby's life, this primarily means your baby's nappy. Everyone takes care to choose soft cotton baby-grows, so why neglect your baby's bottom by using nappies made from paper, plastic and chemicals.

These days I think most of us are trying to be more environmentally friendly. By choosing to use cloth nappies and organic baby care products, you are being kind to your baby and kind to nature.

If you have any comments, suggestions or cloth nappy experiences that you'd like to share or if there is something you want but you don't see here please contact me. I always welcome feedback - it's what makes mamigreen better - so keep those thoughts coming!

Happy cloth nappying!

Rhian
